EDI - Electronic Data Interchange
EDI or electronic data interchange is an industry buzzword describing
methods for transmitting data between companies that go beyond
your everyday answering
service delivery methods such as operator
calling. An example of EDI would be database
integration. EDI is the super highway that allows the flow
of large quanitities of data to be transmitted back and forth
between Telephone Answering Service and end customers.
EDI Applications
EDI is useful for a number of business applications, namely
because many EDI solutions are customized and programmed according
to specifics provided by Telephone Answering Service customers.
An example of EDI integration would be for a company shipping
items out through a fulfillment
company while using Telephone Answering Service to accept
telephone based orders. TAS can integrate with fulfillment
companies, and tie our order processing systems directly into
the pick list generation systems of fulfillment companies. There
is no double entry, or time wasted by the fulfillment
house having to reenter the order into their own systems.
EDI applications are developed to improve communications and
maximize efficiency between companies.
